Canberra Case Study 1 - The performance of solar in Winter.
Canberra Case Study 1 - The performance of solar in Winter. A 6.6 kW system consisting of 14 rooftop solar panels with a Sungrow 5kW inverter. Installation location - Inner South, Canberra.
The inverter began producing energy at 7.45 am despite cold, foggy weather. The inverter stopped producing electricity at 4.45 pm. Therefore, the only daylight the system missed was approx 15 minutes at the end of the day and approx. 30 minutes at the beginning of the day.
This is very impressive performance. Older systems in Canberra - due to the start-up voltage - typically start-up at 8.30 am and would shut-down by 2.30 pm due to insufficient panel voltage.
This means older systems are typically not generating power for 3 hrs 45 minutes on the same day compared to just 45 minutes.
Tomorrow, more numbers about performance, and why Winter is a great time to start generating power in a place like Canberra.
